Terms of Service
Last updated: 24 May 2026
By using the Muld mobile app ("the app"), you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use the app.
1. The app
Muld is a mobile app for hobby metal-detectorists in Denmark. It provides maps, find-logging, session tracking, on-map display of protected zones, and optional submission of finds to the DIME national register.
The app is operated by the owner of muld.dev ("we", "us").
Contact: hello@muld.dev.
2. Eligibility
You must be at least 13 years old to use the app. By using the app, you confirm you meet this requirement.
3. Account
- You are responsible for keeping your account credentials secure.
- One account per person.
- You must provide a valid email address.
- We may suspend accounts that violate these terms.
4. Subscriptions
4.1 Free tier
Core features are free: map, find logging, journal, basic layers.
4.2 Muld+ subscription
Muld+ unlocks additional features (LiDAR layer, historical map layers, offline map downloads, and other Muld+ content). Purchased via Google Play, billed through your Google account.
4.3 Renewal and cancellation
- Subscriptions auto-renew unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period.
- Cancel any time via Google Play → Subscriptions. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period.
- Prices may change; we will notify you in-app before any price increase takes effect.
4.4 Refunds
Refunds are governed by Google Play's refund policy (48-hour automatic refund window). Outside that window, contact hello@muld.dev and we will consider refund requests on a case-by-case basis but are not obliged to grant them.
4.5 Free trials
If we offer a free trial, you will be charged the regular subscription price at the end of the trial unless you cancel before it ends.
5. Acceptable use
You agree NOT to:
- Use the app for any unlawful purpose.
- Reverse-engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract the source code.
- Submit false or misleading data to DIME via the app.
- Use the app to harass, dox, or harm others.
- Attempt to disrupt the app's infrastructure (proxy, auth, storage).
6. Detecting legality — your responsibility
Metal-detecting in Denmark is governed by national and municipal laws. You are solely responsible for ensuring that your detecting activities are legal.
In particular:
- You must have explicit permission from the landowner before detecting on private land.
- Protected zones (fortidsminder, beskyttede sten- og jorddiger, and other protected areas) are subject to strict rules. The app shows these zones on the map but is not a legal authority — the data may be incomplete or out of date. Always verify with official sources before detecting near a protected area.
- Finds of cultural-historical significance ("danefæ" — treasure trove) must be reported to the National Museum (Nationalmuseet) under Danish law. The DIME submission feature helps with this but does not replace your legal obligation to report.
We provide tools to help you detect responsibly, but the legal responsibility for every action you take with the app is yours.
7. Intellectual property
- The app, including code, design, and content created by us, is our intellectual property.
- Map data is licensed from third parties:
- Datafordeler / Geodatastyrelsen — public Danish geospatial data
- Dataforsyningen / Styrelsen for Dataforsyning — historical maps, ortofotos, LiDAR
- OpenStreetMap contributors — base street map (ODbL)
- Esri — World Imagery fallback
- SLKS — protected zone polygons
- You retain ownership of your own content (finds, photos, notes). By uploading photos to Supabase Storage, you grant us a non-exclusive licence to store and serve them as needed to operate the app for you.
8. Disclaimers
The app is provided "as is" and "as available". We do not warrant that:
- The app will be uninterrupted, error-free, or available at all times.
- The map data is accurate, current, or complete.
- The protected-zone map layers are complete, current, or correctly positioned. Always verify legality independently.
9. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law:
- We are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages.
- Our total liability for any claim related to the app is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim (or zero if you are on the free tier).
- Nothing in these terms limits liability for gross negligence, intentional misconduct, or anything else that cannot be limited under Danish law.
10. Termination
- You may stop using the app at any time and delete your account via the in-app Settings.
- We may suspend or terminate your access if you violate these terms.
- Sections 5 (acceptable use), 6 (legality), 7 (IP), 8 (disclaimers), 9 (liability), and 12 (governing law) survive termination.
11. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. The "Last updated" date at the top reflects the most recent change. Material changes will be announced in-app on the next launch after the change. Continued use after the change means you accept the new terms.
12. Governing law and disputes
These terms are governed by Danish law. Disputes are subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the Danish courts, with the City Court of Copenhagen as the court of first instance, unless mandatory consumer-protection law requires otherwise.
